Square Enix has unveiled new story and gameplay details for Octopath Traveler 0, the next HD-2D RPG set in the world of Orsterra. Alongside a look at the game’s companions and facilities, the latest update introduces Pardis III, a tyrannical monarch seeking to dominate Orsterra through sheer wealth, power, and fame.
Meet Pardis III — The “Master of All”
Ruling from the Kingdom of Edoras, Pardis III commands absolute authority over his empire. His unrelenting greed drives him to launch an invasion that engulfs the land in war and tragedy. As the Ringbearer, players must challenge his ambitions and restore balance to a world on the brink of collapse.
Meet the Companions
Players will meet several new allies, each offering distinct skills and personality:
- Pius (CV: Todd Haberkorn) — A compassionate Cleric whose Scales of Justice technique weakens enemies while empowering allies.
- Saoirse (CV: Brianna Knickerbocker) — A free-spirited Dancer whose Ruinous Aria lets allies exploit enemy weaknesses regardless of resistance.
- Carinda (CV: Erica Mendez) — A charming Merchant who boosts team strength with Trick of the Trade, enhancing attack and granting evasive power.
- Xerc (CV: Adam Korenman) — A brilliant Scholar fascinated by soulstones, using Soulstone’s Might to unleash six-elemental damage across all foes.
Town Building Returns with New Features
The Town Building system expands player creativity with new facilities that offer both narrative flavor and rewards:
- The Monster Arena — Capture and battle monsters, complete requests, and earn rewards through arena matches.
- The Museum — Collect music scores, journals, and legendary treasures, customizing Wishvale’s BGM and celebrating the stories uncovered across your journey.
Launch Details and Editions
Octopath Traveler 0 launches on December 4, 2025, for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Microsoft Store on Windows.
The game will be available in three editions:
- Standard Edition – $49.99
- Digital Deluxe Edition – $59.99 (includes Deluxe Travel Provisions set and digital art book)
- Collector’s Edition – $229.99 (includes the Ring of the Flamebringer, dice set, playing cards, art booklet, and more)
Players who pre-order will receive the Travel Provisions Set, which includes the Icewind Mastery skill and healing items to aid them early in their adventure.
