kopiforge has announced a major free update for Sedap: A Culinary Adventure, launching November 26 on PC and later in December for consoles. The v1.1 “Seasoning Update” arrives just a month after the console launch and serves as a direct response to early Steam feedback, particularly criticism surrounding the game’s steep difficulty curve.
A Player-Driven Overhaul
According to the studio, Sedap’s initial PC release in May brought a wave of negative reviews centered on punishing late-game progression. Producer Jay Wong notes that the team “carefully reviewed player feedback” before assembling this quality-of-life update, aiming to bring the game to “a better state” while keeping its spirit intact. The update will also launch alongside a 35% Steam discount, dropping the price below USD $10.
Major New Features: Map, Modes, Bestiary, and More
The Seasoning Update introduces several highly requested features, starting with a fully functional in-game map that displays level layouts, ingredient spawn points, and a dynamic respawn timer addressing the community’s biggest navigation concerns.
Players can also swap between two difficulty settings:
- Herb Mode for a more forgiving experience with reduced damage, monster HP, and order timers
- Spice Mode, the game’s standard difficulty, and the only mode that allows players to earn Pink Stars
The update also adds The Bestiary, a new Makanomicon chapter showcasing enemy art, names, and descriptions to enrich Khaya Island’s lore.
Balancing Pass and New Charms
kopiforge has rolled out significant gameplay balancing, including more Teletotems, lighter late-game tweaks, slower dish freshness decay, and a boosted charm weight limit. Players can now equip one of four new charms: Jade Earrings, Five Stones, Yadom, and Kerosang—providing extra versatility with effects like slower food decay or starting stages with a combo streak.
Community Items and Console Roadmap
Steam players can collect new trading cards, badges, profile backgrounds, and emoticons tied to the Seasoning Update. Console versions of the update will release in December, with online multiplayer arriving in Q1 2026.
A Growing Indie Success Story
Developed by Singapore-based studio kopiforge, originally formed by two students, Sedap has expanded into a four-person team and a full game spotlighting Southeast Asian culture through co-op cooking and exploration. Since launch, the game has earned multiple indie award nominations and wins.
