Spike Chunsoft has officially announced that Steins;Gate Re:Boot will launch in North America and Europe in 2026, bringing one of the most influential visual novels of all time back with modern polish and expanded storytelling. Initially released in 2009 on Xbox 360, Steins;Gate is being reimagined with updated artwork, newly crafted event stills, and an even more immersive rendition of Akihabara. Players can wishlist the game now on Steam as development continues.
A Full Visual Refresh Led by huke
Character designer huke has returned to reinterpret the original cast with new outfits, accessories, and refined expressions. The redesign brings out finer details and personality touches that weren’t possible in the original release, giving longtime fans and newcomers a fresh look at Okabe, Kurisu, Mayuri, and the rest of the Future Gadget Lab.
Event stills—crucial to Steins;Gate’s emotional narrative beats have been fully recreated from scratch, offering stronger dramatic impact. Spike Chunsoft also confirmed that new scenes not present in the 2009 version will appear in Re:Boot to deepen the story.
Akihabara, Reborn in 2010 Detail
Background graphics have been meticulously rebuilt using period references to authentically represent Akihabara circa 2010, the year the story takes place. The remaster includes new locations never seen in the original game, expanding the world and enriching the sense of place that Steins;Gate is known for.
Early comparison images show dramatic improvements in clarity, lighting, environmental detail, and atmosphere—modernizing the game while preserving the charm of its iconic setting.
New Content Expands a Legendary Story
Beyond visual upgrades, Steins;Gate Re:Boot will introduce additional narrative scenes that enhance the flow and emotional weight of the original story. While Spike Chunsoft hasn’t revealed the full extent of the new content, the publisher emphasizes that the additions are intended to strengthen immersion rather than alter the core plot.
All revealed screenshots and stills are from a development version and may change before release.
