Deep Silver and King Art Games have revealed a massive new look at Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, celebrating its placement as one of PC Gamer’s Most Wanted Games of 2026. The new story trailer teases some of the biggest narrative swings in the franchise yet, including the full might of the Dark Angels and the long-awaited arrival of Primarch Lion El’Jonson as a playable force.
Blood Ravens Under Siege and Reinforcements Incoming
The new trailer opens with the Blood Ravens arriving over Kronus under Captain Cyrus and Chief Librarian Jonah Orion. The situation immediately spirals into chaos when a massive orbital conflict with Warboss Gorgutz sends both sides crashing to the planet’s surface—where another war-hungry commander, Guzcutta, is already waiting to pick a fight.
Meanwhile, a separate threat emerges as Technoarcheologist Potentia Delta-9 uncovers ancient knowledge buried deep beneath Kronus. That excavation, unfortunately, awakens Chronomancer Thothmek and a wave of Necron tomb complexes rising in full invasion force.
Outnumbered and pinned on every front, Imperial forces buckle until the skies part and the Dark Angels make landfall.
The Dark Angels Become Fully Playable for the First Time
For the first time in Dawn of War history, players can command two fully playable Space Marine factions:
- The Blood Ravens
- The Dark Angels
Both factions are available across all modes, with the Space Marines campaign letting players choose missions for either Chapter as the story unfolds.
Dark Angels players will also command two new Chapter-specific leaders:
- Company Master Astoran
- Chaplain Ezrael
While the Blood Ravens are known for precision, infiltration, and the smaller-scale conflicts that define the Chapter, the Dark Angels bring overwhelming force strategies built around heavy frontline deployment, unrelenting pressure, and battlefield dominance.
Lion El’Jonson Descends for the Final Battle
The story climaxes with one of the most ambitious moments in the series’ history: Lion El’Jonson, Primarch of the Dark Angels, joins the fray.
This marks the first time a Primarch has been fully playable in a Dawn of War title, promising a massive, cinematic finale to the Kronus campaign that reshapes the future of the Imperium and the series.
War Returns to Kronus
Between the Orks, Necrons, and internal mysteries waiting beneath the planet’s surface, Kronus is once again a world on the edge. Dawn of War IV aims to deliver a sweeping narrative and the largest-scale Space Marine action the series has attempted to date.
The wait for 2026 just got a lot harder.
