Kwalee and Kwalee Labs pulled back the curtain today on a haunting new look at Luna Abyss, their upcoming first-person bullet-hell action-adventure. The latest trailer, titled “The Eye Has Opened,” premiered with a heavy dose of cosmic dread, environmental storytelling, and the unsettling mysteries buried deep within the mimic moon known as Luna.
A New Glimpse Into the Abyss
The new trailer dives deeper into the grim, oppressive atmosphere that defines Luna Abyss. Stark corridors, derelict megastructures, corrupted souls, and cosmic horrors set the tone for a game rooted in tension and discovery. Players step into the role of Fawkes, a prisoner sentenced to traverse Luna’s sprawling underground megastructure in search of forgotten technology, whether they survive the experience or not.
Serving as both guide and enforcer is Aylin, the artificial prison guard who watches your every move. Her presence, calm, clinical, and unnervingly omnipresent, adds an extra layer of pressure as players explore the depths of Luna and the remnants of the colony that once lived there.
A Demo That Dives Right Into the Darkness
Players don’t have to wait until next year to descend into the abyss. A free Steam demo is available now, offering an early look at multiple zones, intense bullet-hell encounters, and a taste of Luna Abyss’ cosmic-gothic storytelling.
It’s a demo that wastes no time introducing the game’s tone: industrial brutality, whispered lore, and a looming sense that something far older and far hungrier waits in the dark.
Platforming, Bullet Hell, and Cosmic Horror Collide
Luna Abyss blends fast, fluid first-person platforming with frenetic combat. Players will sprint, jump, and dash through massive chasms while managing relentless projectile patterns and hostile encounters. Brutalist architecture, crumbling alien ruins, and a world steeped in cultish mythology all help build an atmosphere that feels oppressive in the best way.
The further players go, the deeper they sink into the ruins of Greymont, the doomed colony swallowed by the abyss. Voices echo through the structures, warnings, prophecies, and unsettling invitations urging you to descend “the better to be seen by us.”
Coming in 2026
Luna Abyss is set to launch in 2026 for PC (Steam & Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. With its striking style, mysterious worldbuilding, and intense action-platforming blend, it’s shaping up to be one of next year’s most intriguing sci-fi horrors.
