A new studio filled with talent behind Satisfactory, Goat Simulator, and major Paradox titles has unveiled its debut project. Feeble Minds, founded by former Coffee Stain Studios developers, announced Serpent’s Gaze, a co-op souls-like infused with roguelike build-crafting, and players can try it today thanks to a newly released Steam demo.
A Souls-Like Built for Co-Op
Designed for up to four players in online co-op but fully playable solo, Serpent’s Gaze features handcrafted levels instead of procedural generation, emphasizing deliberate encounters and standout setpieces. Players take on the role of a scion, a being created by the dying tree god Magnolia and sent to overthrow rival gods ruling the desert realm.
The game’s tactical combat is supported by epic boss battles and tight stamina-based encounters, blending the grandeur of a traditional souls-like with the experimentation of roguelike progression.
A Curse System That Shapes Every Run
To keep each playthrough fresh, Serpent’s Gaze uses a “Curse” system that stacks difficulty modifiers that escalate danger and unpredictability. Curses can summon invading enemy squads, send roaming minibosses to hunt players down, or twist encounters in unexpected ways. Each run becomes an opportunity to construct a new power-creeping build to survive the desert’s escalating threats.
A World of Gods, Secrets, and Violence
Storytelling unfolds subtly throughout each run, with players uncovering the truth behind Magnolia, the desert’s divine hierarchy, and the nature of the scions themselves. Violence may be the only path forward, but how players approach it and how they evolve their builds along the way shape their journey.
