Pathea Games Reveals The God Slayer, a New Open-World Steampunk Fantasy RPG

Pathea Games, the studio behind the beloved My Time series, has officially unveiled The God Slayer, a new third-person open-world steampunk fantasy RPG coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox platforms. The announcement arrived alongside a new CGI cinematic and gameplay trailer, giving players their first look at the game’s elemental combat, dystopian world, and story of vengeance.

A Steampunk Metropolis Ruled by Gods

The God Slayer transports players to Zhou, a sprawling Eastern-inspired steampunk capital where technology and divine oppression collide. Airships float above soot-filled streets, monorails cut through industrial districts, and the wealthy enjoy steam-powered luxuries while the lower classes struggle under the rule of the Celestials, godlike beings who once created humanity.

These tyrannical Celestials harvest the world’s Qi energy for immortality and show no mercy when humans learn to wield elemental powers of their own. Their wrath manifests in the catastrophic “God Fall,” where the kingdom’s Elemancers are hunted and slaughtered in a single night.

A Story of Resistance and Vengeance

Players step into the role of Cheng, one of the few surviving Elemancers whose mastery of elemental arts makes him a threat to the Celestials. Driven by personal loss and the devastation of his homeland, Cheng embarks on a 40-hour, story-driven quest to inspire rebellion, unite allies, and overthrow the gods who have subjugated humanity.

Pathea describes the game as a departure from the cozy tone of My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock, embracing a darker narrative and a more mature blend of political turmoil, divine conflict, and focused character drama.

Customizable Elemental Combat

At the heart of The God Slayer is a robust elemental combat system where players combine water, earth, metal, and fire to craft unique weapons, attacks, and environmental effects. These powers can reshape the battlefield—flooding areas, creating barriers, igniting hazards, and more. Pathea promises a flexible “create-your-own-style” approach that rewards experimentation and tactical decision-making.

Multiple Approaches to Every Mission

Players can tackle missions with combat, stealth, bribery, elemental distractions, hidden routes, or other creative methods. Whether players bulldoze through enemies or outsmart them through subterfuge, The God Slayer aims to offer branching approaches while reflecting player decisions across its world and factions.

A Reactive Open World

Zhou is a living city in the midst of a technological revolution. Players will explore its upper-class wonders, impoverished factory districts, evolving political structures, and simmering tensions between humans and their celestial rulers. With factions to befriend or antagonize, choice-driven mission design, and elemental abilities that can reshape encounters, Pathea aims to deliver its most ambitious world yet.
