City Tales – Medieval Era Launches on Steam with Full 1.0 Release

French indie developer Irregular Shapes has officially launched City Tales – Medieval Era today on PC via Steam, marking the full 1.0 release of its relaxing kingdom builder after nearly a year in Early Access. Published by Firesquid, the game is available now with a 35% launch discount, bringing the price down from its standard $22.99.

A Community-Shaped Kingdom Builder

City Tales – Medieval Era has spent close to a year in Early Access, with the development team actively responding to player feedback and expanding the game’s scope over time. That collaborative approach has culminated in today’s full release, delivering the complete experience the developers originally envisioned while incorporating many community-requested features and refinements.

Version 1.0 Brings the Full Story and Endgame Content

The 1.0 launch marks a major milestone for the project, bringing the game’s narrative to a close and making both story acts fully playable. Players can also work toward 11 masterworks that serve as the game’s ultimate endgame challenges, while managing a full medieval economy built around 48 resources, 18 civil buildings, and 10 companions across three handcrafted maps.

Painter Mode Encourages Creative Freedom

New in the full release is Painter Mode, which lets players build freely without the usual restrictions tied to resources, influence, or progression. This mode emphasizes creativity and experimentation, letting players design their kingdoms at their own pace. Combined with the game’s breadth of content, City Tales – Medieval Era offers dozens of hours of gameplay with a strong focus on replayability and a calm, low-pressure experience.

A Major Milestone for Irregular Shapes

“We’ve been working really hard close to our community during the Early Access, which allowed us to improve our game constantly,” said Rémi Malet, CEO of Irregular Shapes. “Our 1.0 launch marks a huge moment for us as a game studio as this is our first game, and we really hope that city builder lovers enjoy all that City Tales – Medieval Era has to offer.”
