Dread Meridian launches today, January 22, 2026, bringing cosmic survival horror to Meta Quest and Steam VR. Publisher Level Infinite and developer KUKRGAME marked the occasion with a launch trailer that highlights the frozen island of Oglanbyen and the threats waiting beneath its surface.
The game is priced at $19.99, with a 15 percent launch discount available for players who pre-order on Meta Quest.
A Lovecraft-Inspired VR Survival Horror
Set during a 1930s Arctic expedition, Dread Meridian casts you as Daniela, a researcher searching for her missing twin sister on a remote island swallowed by ice and fear. The game draws inspiration from At the Mountains of Madness, leaning into isolation, uncertainty, and creeping dread.
Exploration takes place across the frozen wasteland of Oglanbyen, where survival depends on careful planning, environmental awareness, and smart use of limited supplies.
Combat, Puzzles, and Resource Management
Moment-to-moment play in Dread Meridian mixes exploration, puzzle-solving, and intense VR combat. Ammo is scarce, weapons can be customized, and every encounter forces you to weigh risk against survival. When firearms run dry, you can fall back on a knife and fight up close.
The game pushes tactical decision-making, asking you to choose how and when to engage hostile creatures while managing what little you have on hand.
PVP Multiplayer at Launch
Alongside the single-player campaign, Dread Meridian includes PVP multiplayer for up to four players at launch. Matches are played in teams of two, with players rotating between human and monster roles.
Skills learned during the campaign carry over into multiplayer, where you can experience the island from an entirely different angle by stepping into the role of its creatures.
