One of the biggest things to be shown at today’s Xbox Showcase was undoubtedly Fable, the highly-anticipated reboot of the iconic series.
The new game is set to release this coming autumn for the Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud, and, surprisingly enough, the PlayStation 5. It will also be part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and will be an Xbox Play Anywhere right off the bat.
Plenty of details were revealed on the official Xbox website, but fans of the series’ memorable sense of humor may be excited to hear that this entry will particularly take inspiration from famous British comedy series like Peep Show, The Office, and The IT Crowd. Additionally, the “mockumentary” style of The Office will be a major part of Fable.

Is the new Fable game a remake?
When asked if this upcoming game was a continuation or a reboot of the existing series, GM and Game Director Ralph Fulton described the 2026 title as a “new beginning.” He stated, “There’s a lot of faithfulness in the way we’ve approached this game – and certainly I think the inspiration of the original trilogy is really clear for everyone to see – but we wanted to make sure that this was a new beginning that would allow us to tell the stories that we wanted to tell.”
