Arc Games and Snapshot Games have announced that Frosthaven’s second major Early Access update, titled “Legacy of the Algox,” will launch on January 22, 2026, for Steam and the Epic Games Store. The update is free for all Early Access players and represents a substantial expansion of content inspired by the critically acclaimed board game created by Isaac Childres.
A New Storyline in the Frozen North
The Legacy of the Algox update introduces an all-new narrative arc centered on the escalating conflict with the Algox. With the Unfettered threat finally resolved, Frosthaven’s heroes are drawn into tense political negotiations as an Algox messenger arrives bearing news of a possible peace. Players’ choices throughout this storyline will help determine the future of the Algox and Frosthaven itself as something ancient and dangerous begins to stir beneath the ice.
Three New Playable Heroes Join the Fight
This update adds three highly anticipated playable classes to the roster: Astral, Drill, and Shackles. Each hero introduces distinct mechanics and playstyles, opening the door to new party compositions and deeper tactical possibilities. These advanced classes are unlocked by completing specific scenarios, rewarding players who push further into the Frozen North.
New Biomes, Bosses, and Quests
Players can look forward to two brand-new biomes that expand Frosthaven’s ever-growing world map, alongside five new bosses that bring fresh tactical challenges. The update also includes 25+ new quests, offering hours of additional content and uncovering more of the mysteries lurking beneath and beyond Frosthaven’s borders.
Pets, Items, and Town Upgrades
“Legacy of the Algox” continues to deepen Frosthaven’s systems with a wealth of new additions. A new pet joins the Stables, bringing the total number of discoverable pets to 11, each capable of being summoned in battle with unique abilities. Players will also gain access to 31 new items, nine building upgrades, and Town Hall challenges that provide special objectives to further enhance party capabilities and settlement progression.

Developed by Snapshot Games, led by Julian Gollop (creator of X-COM), and featuring Isaac Childres as a consultant, Frosthaven continues to evolve as a faithful yet ambitious digital adaptation of the beloved board game.
