Funcom has released the largest update yet for Dune: Awakening, with Chapter 3 now live as a free update alongside the paid Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC. The new chapter targets one of the game’s most requested improvements: a deeper, more rewarding endgame with meaningful progression beyond Tier 6.
Chapter 3 significantly expands how players grow their power, specialize their playstyle, and engage with both PvE and narrative content, marking the most substantial evolution of Dune: Awakening since launch.
A Bigger, PvE-Focused Endgame
Once players reach Tier 6, progression no longer stops. Chapter 3 introduces new systems that allow continued character growth, deeper build refinement, and clearer endgame identity. For the first time, players can advance meaningfully through PvE-focused activities without relying solely on PvP or repetitive loops.
At the center of this overhaul is a rebuilt Landsraad system, now offering repeatable missions that increase Faction Rank and Great House Standing. These missions unlock exclusive rewards and give long-term structure to endgame play.
New Locations, Progression Paths, and Gear Systems
Chapter 3 adds ten new overland locations designed specifically for endgame players. These include open-area challenge zones and Imperial Testing Stations built for repeatable play and escalating difficulty, encouraging experimentation and mastery rather than one-and-done completion.
Players can now further specialize through five distinct progression paths: Crafting, Gathering, Exploration, Combat, and Sabotage, which provide clearer roles and long-term goals. Gear customization also expands with a new Augmentation System, letting Tier 6 weapons and armor be enhanced at a dedicated Augmentation Station. Augmented gear remains usable by all players, supporting both solo and group play.
Combat options grow as well, with the addition of two new weapons, the Pyrocket and Dual Blades, alongside a full rework of the Rapier.
Quality-of-Life Improvements and New Story Content
Chapter 3 removes base taxation entirely, eliminating the need to travel to Social Hubs just to pay upkeep. Players can now keep their Solaris and focus on progression and building.
For returning players, Funcom has added a re-entry support package. Players who have been inactive for a set period will receive a resource bundle scaled to their Research progression, easing the transition back into the game.
The update also continues the narrative, picking up directly after Chapter 2. Players can expect hours of new story content that reunites them with a familiar ally and pushes the larger arc forward.
Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC Adds Major Building Options
Launching alongside the free update is the Raiders of the Broken Lands DLC, available now for $9.99 or included with the Season Pass. This DLC focuses on construction and customization, introducing a new Smuggler-inspired building set with 74 building pieces and 17 decorations.
The DLC also includes a dedicated stillsuit set, new light and heavy armor sets, weapon variants, color swatches, and emotes, giving builders and role-focused players far more flexibility.
