Echo Generation 2 Demo Launches on PC and Xbox Ahead of Steam Next Fest

Cococucumber has officially released the first playable demo for Echo Generation 2, giving fans an early look at the next chapter in the award-winning sci-fi indie series. The demo is available now on PC and Xbox consoles, arriving just in time for Steam Next Fest.

Echo Generation 2 is scheduled to launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, Xbox Game Pass, and PC via Steam.

A Psychic Escape from the FST

The demo introduces players to Sister M, a psychic child trapped between sinister scientific experimentation and forces beyond human understanding. Set against the franchise’s nostalgic 80s and 90s-inspired backdrop, Echo Generation 2 once again blends coming-of-age storytelling with eerie sci-fi mystery.

In this opening slice of the game, players must escape the shadowy FST organization, setting the stage for a larger adventure filled with strange phenomena and escalating danger. As with the original, the sequel leans heavily into its retro atmosphere while expanding the scope and ambition of the world.

Tactical Combat Gets a Major Evolution

Echo Generation 2 builds upon the turn-based foundations of its predecessor with a revamped tactical card-based combat system. Players can collect and customize decks using more than 100 unique cards, creating combos, unleashing powerful attacks, and summoning allies during battle.

This system allows players to shape their own playstyle, offering greater strategic flexibility and replayability. The demo provides a focused preview of how combat flows, teasing the deeper customization options that will be available in the full release.

For those eager to jump in early, the demo is available today on PC and Xbox consoles, with Steam Next Fest providing an additional spotlight later this month.
