Felicity’s Door Launches on Apple Arcade as a Musical Storytelling Rhythm Game

AREA35 has officially launched Felicity’s Door, a premium music and rhythm game now available globally exclusively on Apple Arcade. Designed to blur the line between gameplay and musical performance, Felicity’s Door delivers a narrative-driven experience where players feel less like they’re tapping notes and more like they’re actively playing an instrument.

Blending music, visuals, and storytelling into a unified interactive format, the game invites players into an emotionally resonant world where every interaction produces sound that meaningfully contributes to the music itself. Rather than chasing high scores or strict timing windows, Felicity’s Door emphasizes flow, expression, and immersion.

A Rhythm Game That Feels Like Playing Music

At the core of Felicity’s Door is a design philosophy focused on musical participation. Traditional rhythm game mechanics are intentionally set aside in favor of touch-based interactions that prioritize comfort, harmony, and audiovisual cohesion. Every sound a player generates is treated as part of the overall composition, allowing gameplay actions to seamlessly blend into the soundtrack.

All music in the game was composed specifically for the experience, with additional layers gradually revealed as players progress. This approach encourages players to discover phrasing, rhythm, and emotional nuance naturally, making the game approachable for players of all ages and musical backgrounds.

Storytelling Through Sound and Performance

Narrative plays a central role in Felicity’s Door, with music serving as both the storytelling vehicle and emotional anchor. The game features a notable Japanese voice cast, including Yui Horie, Mutsumi Tamura, and Ikue Otani, who bring warmth and personality to the characters players meet along the journey.

The story unfolds organically through play rather than exposition, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on emotional resonance and lingering atmosphere over explicit explanation.

Creative Talent Behind Felicity’s Door

The project is led by Hiroaki Yura, President and CEO of AREA35, who serves as producer and sound director. A violinist by training, Yura has previously worked as an audio and recording director on titles such as Diablo III, Soulcalibur V, and I Am Setsuna. His background strongly influenced the game’s design, particularly the focus on timing, musical expression, and performance feel.

Visually, the game features character designs by Asami Hagiwara, known for Bye Bye Humanity and My Daughter’s Friend, while Yusuke Kozaki, famed for work on Fire EmblemPokémon GO, and Monster Hunter Now, designed Mi-chan the Bear.

A Music Game Made by Musicians

According to AREA35, Felicity’s Door was developed with musicians at the center of its design process rather than traditional rhythm-game chart designers. This approach shaped everything from note timing to interaction feedback, resulting in a game that prioritizes emotional expression and musical authenticity.

With its launch on Apple Arcade, AREA35 hopes Felicity’s Door can serve as a gateway for players around the world to engage with music in a more intuitive, expressive, and story-driven way.

Felicity’s Door is available now on Apple Arcade.
