Limited Run Games, in collaboration with Marvel Games and Konami Digital Entertainment, has officially announced Marvel Maximum Collection, a curated bundle of classic Marvel titles from the arcade and 8-bit/16-bit era.
The collection is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, reviving some of Marvel’s most beloved retro adventures for modern audiences.
A Celebration of Marvel’s Gaming Legacy
Marvel Maximum Collection is positioned as a celebration of Marvel’s early video game history. Spanning arcades, home consoles, and handheld systems, the bundle gathers multiple versions of each title, ensuring fans can experience the distinct differences between arcade cabinets and their console adaptations.
From pixelated beat-’em-ups to notoriously difficult shooters, the collection captures the golden age of Marvel action games, complete with online multiplayer support for select titles and modern quality-of-life features.
The Full Lineup of Classic Titles
The collection includes six iconic Marvel games across multiple platforms and variations:
- X-Men: The Arcade Game (Arcade) – The legendary six-player mutant brawler returns with full online multiplayer support.
- Captain America and The Avengers (Arcade, Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, NES) – Play as Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, and Vision across multiple classic versions.

By including every major console and arcade iteration, the collection lets players compare versions side by side and relive the era exactly as they remember it.
Modern Features for Classic Heroes
To complement the retro content, Marvel Maximum Collection includes several modern enhancements. Players can rewind gameplay and create save states to overcome notoriously difficult segments. A built-in music player allows fans to listen to every version of each game’s chip-tune soundtrack.
The digital archive feature offers high-resolution scans of original box art, instruction manuals, and vintage advertisements, giving collectors a deeper dive into Marvel’s gaming past. Display filters, including CRT and scanline options, recreate the authentic look of classic televisions while also offering crisp modern pixel presentation.
