Double Stallion has announced during the Quebec Games Celebration Showcase that an updated demo for Surfpunk is now available, bringing major gameplay tweaks and a wave of new cosmetic options for players to enjoy.
Selected as one of just 30 titles spotlighted in the inaugural Quebec Games Celebration Showcase, chosen from hundreds of eligible games developed across the province, Surfpunk continues to build momentum ahead of its early access launch next year.
All Weapons Unlocked and New Cosmetics Available
The updated demo now grants players immediate access to all four weapon classes from the start, allowing Raiders to experiment freely with different playstyles. Alongside gameplay adjustments, Double Stallion has added a host of new, beach-ready cosmetics so players can dress their Raider up or down as they see fit.
A newly released trailer leans into both heat and humor, parodying early ’90s pay-per-minute hotline ads while showcasing each Raider weapon class and the expanded customization options. Calling the number featured in the trailer unlocks a Quebec-themed hint that helps players discover a hidden “birthday suit” option in the demo, which will carry over into the full game at launch.
Surf, Scavenge, and Survive
Set in a dazzling but deadly archipelago, Surfpunk tasks players with scavenging loot across procedurally generated tropical islands. The demo supports 1 to 4 player online co-op and includes four mission difficulty tiers, one game mode, NPC quests, character customization, and a preview of unlockable skills tied to each weapon class.
Players can wield a fast-hitting Sword, explosive Pistols, a stance-switching Anchor that doubles as a traversal tool, or a timing-based Guitar that boosts allies and unleashes powerful area-of-effect attacks. Movement is just as important as combat, with the high-speed “Rushboard” allowing Raiders to hop between islands and tow their loot barge across dangerous waters.
Mid-run crafting adds another strategic layer, letting players harvest resources to create gadgets like ladders and explosives to overcome obstacles or outmaneuver enemies. As more loot is gathered, enemy waves intensify, culminating in a frantic escape sequence where players must surf a colossal tsunami back to safety.
Between missions, players return to the Beastship hub to upgrade gear, unlock abilities, customize appearances, and take on side quests, all while preparing for the next high-risk run. The demo offers roughly five hours of content, with up to ten hours for those aiming to master higher difficulty tiers and unlock everything available.
Surfpunk is slated to enter early access next year, with the updated demo available now for players eager to ride the wave early.
