Windrose Crew has released the Steam Next Fest demo for Windrose, alongside a brand-new grog-soaked trailer. The open-world pirate survival adventure formerly known as Crosswind currently sits within Steam’s Top 35 wishlisted games, boasting more than 840,000 wishlists ahead of its upcoming Early Access debut.
The demo is available now during Steam Next Fest and offers players a substantial slice of high-seas exploration, crafting, and swashbuckling action.
Set Sail in the Age of Piracy
Windrose drops players into a sprawling pirate sandbox where survival and ambition go hand in hand. The Steam Next Fest demo features 4 to 6 hours of content, introducing core systems that will shape the Early Access experience.
Players will learn the ropes through onboarding quests, secure their first major ship, and explore three islands within the game’s opening biome. From scavenging resources and crafting gear to constructing bases and engaging in brutal melee and ranged combat, Windrose blends survival mechanics with Souls-lite action.
Naval combat plays a central role, with seamless transitions between ship and land gameplay. Players can bombard enemy vessels, board hostile ships, and fight for control in dynamic, high-stakes encounters.
Co-Op Swashbuckling
Windrose supports co-op multiplayer for up to four players in the demo, allowing friends to crew a ship together and carve out their pirate legacy. Co-op is currently self-hosted during the demo period, with dedicated servers planned for the Steam Early Access launch later this year.
Players who jump into the demo before Early Access will also receive an exclusive decorative spyglass when the full Early Access version launches.
With exploration, survival, crafting, naval warfare, and cooperative play all on display, Windrose’s Steam Next Fest demo offers a robust first look at its pirate-powered ambitions.
