Yakoh Shinobi Ops Announced as 4-Player Co-Op Stealth Game for PS5 and PC

Shueisha Games and Acquire have officially unveiled Yakoh Shinobi Ops, a co-op tactical stealth action game set in Japan’s Warring States era. The project was revealed during Sony Interactive Entertainment’s latest State of Play showcase and is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Designed for 1–4 players, Yakoh Shinobi Ops emphasizes patience, coordination, and evasion over direct confrontation, delivering what the team describes as an authentic shinobi infiltration experience.

Infiltrate, Deceive, Survive

Yakoh Shinobi Ops centers on a squad of four shinobi operating deep behind enemy lines. Rather than rewarding aggressive combat, the game prioritizes stealth mastery. Players must move silently, avoid detection, and coordinate their abilities to survive missions where even a single misstep can mean death.

Operations are only considered complete if every shinobi returns alive, reinforcing the game’s high-stakes, survival-driven design. Enemy territory is filled with vigilant sentries, deadly traps, and relentless pursuers known as “Hunters,” who cannot be defeated through brute force. Facing them head-on is certain death; evasion is the only path forward.

Unique Ninjutsu and Tactical Coordination

Each shinobi comes equipped with specialized Ninjutsu abilities that support team-based play. Players can scale walls with grappling hooks, carve alternate routes through environments, deploy smokescreens and flash grenades, and manipulate the battlefield to create escape opportunities.

Success depends on understanding each role and synchronizing movements with teammates. What one shinobi cannot accomplish alone, the full squad can achieve together. The design leans into deliberate movement, communication, and strategic planning rather than fast-paced combat encounters.

A New Direction for Shinobi Action

Shueisha Games’ Senior Producer Makoto Hayashi described Yakoh Shinobi Ops as an experience built around “memorable gaming moments created to be shared,” highlighting Acquire’s long history with shinobi-themed action titles as a foundation for the project’s tactical depth.

The game will support English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Korean localization at release.
