Persona-Inspired Dungeon Crawler Descent of Lunaris Gets Playable Steam Demo

Indie developer Unison Games has released a public demo for its upcoming sci-fi dungeon crawler Descent of Lunaris, giving players an early look at the game’s mysterious lunar setting and tactical combat systems.

The demo is available now on Steam and offers the first playable slice of the game ahead of its planned PC release later this year. Descent of Lunaris draws clear inspiration from classic dungeon-crawling RPGs such as Persona 5 and Shin Megami Tensei V, blending grid-based exploration with atmospheric storytelling and turn-based combat.

A Disturbing Signal from Beneath the Moon

Set in the year 2070, Descent of Lunaris begins when a lunar mining operation detects a strange signal emanating from deep beneath the moon’s surface. A secret research experiment soon spirals out of control, triggering chaos across the base as machines suddenly become hostile and wipe out much of the facility’s crew.

Players assume command of a specialized security team tasked with investigating the disaster and protecting scientists during an emergency evacuation. However, the situation grows far more dangerous as reality itself begins to fracture and the surviving crew encounters warped scientists and disturbing cosmic forces.

As the investigation unfolds, the team discovers that the signal may be tied to something far more terrifying lurking deep below the lunar base.

Explore the First Level in the Demo

The newly released demo includes the game’s prologue and the entire first dungeon level, allowing players to experience the early stages of the story while exploring the mechanics that drive the adventure.

Players can explore the base using grid-based dungeon navigation, uncover hidden areas, and interact with strange characters encountered along the way. Combat is handled through tactical turn-based battles, where players must carefully manage their party and abilities as they face increasingly dangerous enemies.

Customization also plays a key role in the experience, allowing players to build and adjust their team composition to handle the unknown threats waiting beneath the surface.

Old-School Design Meets Modern Tech

Descent of Lunaris combines classic dungeon-crawling mechanics with modern presentation powered by Unreal Engine 5. The game aims to capture the feeling of traditional RPG exploration while delivering detailed environments and atmospheric lighting within the mysterious lunar setting.

The experience is further supported by a haunting soundtrack created by underground musicians, which gradually becomes stranger and more unsettling as players venture deeper into the moon.

Demo Available Now

Players interested in exploring the mystery can download the Descent of Lunaris demo now on Steam, which provides a preview of the game’s story, exploration, and combat systems ahead of its full release on PC later this year.
