Skrollcat Studio and PM Studios have officially revealed Hoa 2, the sequel to the beloved narrative puzzle-platformer Hoa. The game is currently slated to release in 2026 for Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
The newly revealed sequel continues the emotional and visually striking journey of the tiny fairy Hoa, returning players to a magical world shaped by time, change, and the passage of life.
A Return to a Changed World
Hoa 2 takes place long after the events of the original game. The story begins with Hoa returning to her homeland after many years, only to discover that time has transformed the world she once knew. The friends she once traveled with have long since passed, leaving her alone in a land that feels both familiar and unfamiliar.
This new chapter focuses on themes of transformation, reflection, and moving forward. Players will guide Hoa through an emotional journey as she searches for new meaning in a world reshaped by time.
A New Dimension for Hoa’s World
While the original game was known for its beautifully hand-painted 2D environments, Hoa 2 expands the experience by introducing 3D exploration. This shift allows for more dynamic environments and spatial puzzles while maintaining the series’ signature artistic style and gentle atmosphere.
The world will feature expansive environments filled with secrets beyond the main storyline. Along the way, players will encounter adorable creatures, uncover hidden areas, and complete optional activities including minigames, achievements, and collectible rewards.
Continuing the Spirit of the Original
According to Skrollcat Studio founder Son Tung Cao, the sequel reflects both the emotional journey of its protagonist and the growth of the world around her.
“Hoa has gone through a lot, and the world reflects what goes on inside her,” Cao said. “There’s freedom to explore with greater openness and mobility, but also a feeling of loss that comes with its own lesson.”
Michael Yum, CEO of PM Studios, also highlighted how the original game connected with players through its blend of storytelling, art direction, and intuitive gameplay, calling Hoa a milestone for the publisher.
A More Ambitious Journey Ahead
Hoa 2 is described as the studio’s most ambitious project yet, expanding the scale of exploration while maintaining the peaceful tone and emotional storytelling that defined the first game. Returning fans and newcomers alike will be able to experience the magical world of Hoa in a new form when the game launches in 2026.
