Spook-A-Boo Revealed with Co-Op Ghost Hunting Gameplay, Demo Live Now on Steam

Indie developer Wala Interactive and publisher Soft Source Publishing have officially unveiled Spook-A-Boo, a lighthearted co-op ghost hunting game coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S later this year.

Blending cartoon-inspired humor with fast-paced cooperative gameplay, Spook-A-Boo invites players into a chaotic, family-friendly experience that emphasizes teamwork, physics-based puzzles, and plenty of ghost-catching mayhem.

A Co-Op Adventure Built for Chaos

At its core, Spook-A-Boo is a top-down, level-based co-op game designed for up to four players, playable both locally and online. Players join the Dimensional Entity Department (D.E.D), a ghost-hunting organization tasked with tracking down mischievous spirits across time and space.

Using a variety of gadgets to locate, lure, and capture ghosts, coordination is key as players work together to manage unpredictable scenarios. Whether carefully strategizing or accidentally sabotaging each other, the game leans into the fun of cooperative chaos.

For those who prefer to go solo, the game is fully playable, though the experience is clearly designed to shine in multiplayer.

Demo Available Now on Steam

Players can get an early taste of the action with a limited-time demo available now on Steam as part of Steam Spring Fest, running from March 19 through March 26.

The demo offers a slice of the final experience, giving players a chance to experiment with the game’s gadgets, puzzles, and ghost-hunting mechanics ahead of its full release later in 2026.

Inspired by Classic Cartoons and Games

Spook-A-Boo draws inspiration from beloved franchises like Scooby-Doo and Ghostbusters, channeling that same mix of spooky fun and comedic energy. The result is a game that balances light suspense with over-the-top moments of chaos.

The adventure spans 28 levels across four distinct worlds, including 80s Earth, Ancient India, a steampunk-inspired city, and a sci-fi setting. Each environment introduces unique challenges, enemies, and boss encounters that require players to identify weaknesses and adapt their strategies.

A Familiar Voice Guides the Hunt

Adding to the game’s charm, the mysterious guide known as The Warden is voiced by Kevin Miller, best known for his role as Sly Cooper as well as his work on Jet Set Radio.

His presence helps anchor the game’s narrative while adding a nostalgic touch for longtime fans of character-driven adventures.

A Promising Indie Co-Op Experience

Positioned as both a love letter to classic couch co-op and a modern multiplayer experience, Spook-A-Boo aims to capture the spirit of gathering around a screen with friends, whether locally or online.

With its demo now live and a full release planned for later this year, Spook-A-Boo looks to be an indie co-op title worth keeping an eye on.
