Developer Bitobit< has officially launched The NewZealand Story: Untold Adventure on PC via Steam, bringing a modern revival of the beloved arcade classic originally created by TAITO in 1988.
The original The NewZealand Story became a cult favorite in arcades thanks to its colorful world, inventive platforming, and charming protagonist, Tiki the kiwi bird. Now, nearly four decades later, Bitobit has reintroduced the adventure with updated features designed for modern platforms while preserving the spirit and charm that made the original so memorable.
A Cult Classic Returns
First released in 1988, the original The NewZealand Story quickly earned a devoted following for its playful tone, creative stage design, and distinctive visual style. In Untold Adventure, players once again guide Tiki across vibrant landscapes inspired by New Zealand in a quest to rescue his captured friends.
The remake aims to retain the essence of the arcade classic while adding fresh content and gameplay updates, creating an experience that appeals both to longtime fans and newcomers discovering the series for the first time.
A Brand-New Stage Inspired by New Zealand
One of the biggest additions in Untold Adventure is a completely original fifth stage created by Bitobit. Inspired by the Kaikōura district on New Zealand’s South Island, the new area expands the world with four additional levels and a unique boss encounter.
Players will face off against Wormageddon, a colossal new enemy designed specifically for the remake. The new stage also introduces a redesigned map layout, a new health system, and other gameplay features exclusive to this modern version.
Throughout the adventure, Tiki travels through diverse environments including lush forests, rugged coastlines, sea caves, and mysterious labyrinths, each filled with hazards, enemies, and secrets to uncover.
