Square Enix has revealed new details for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, offering a closer look at the game’s story, characters, combat systems, and customization ahead of its June launch.
The upcoming action RPG follows Elliot and Faie as they travel through time using the Doorway of Time to lift the curse placed upon Princess Heuria of Huther. Their journey spans four eras over a thousand years, beginning in the present-day Age of Safekeeping, then moving through the Age of Reconstruction, the Age of Magic, and the Age of Budding.
The Age of Budding Introduces a Turning Point
The Age of Budding takes players to the dawn of civilization, where humans use handmade weapons to defend themselves from beast tribes. The era also introduces the Myū, a tribe that can speak human language and use powerful magic. Their arrival raises questions about whether magic will become humanity’s hope or its next threat.
Players will meet Kai, the chief of Hitoyori, who sees the Myū as a danger to his people. Hirk, another resident of Hitoyori, believes magic could help the village survive and seeks to learn from the Myū. Lyudmila, a woman of the Myū, becomes tied to that exchange as she begins teaching magic to humans.
Faie’s Magic Expands Exploration and Combat
Faie will learn new powers at Shrines of the Mystic found across Philabieldia. These powers help Elliot pass obstacles, solve puzzles, and gain new combat options.
Ignite can light torches, melt ice, and trigger explosives, while Vacuum pulls in enemies and objects. Copy lets Faie mirror Elliot’s movements, allowing her to press switches, copy thrown weapons, and support puzzle-solving and combat setups.
Magicite Lets Players Build Combat Synergies
Combat also uses a Magicite system that lets players equip effects to Elliot’s weapons. Magicite can change how attacks behave, giving players room to shape their combat style.
Square Enix highlighted several examples, including Ripe Bomb Magicite, which increases explosive damage while delaying detonation. Faie can then use Ignite to trigger those enhanced bombs directly. Extra Throw Magicite adds a second boomerang to Elliot’s attack, while Faie’s Copy can double that again for four boomerangs at once.
