Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United Details Companions, Forging, and New Formations

Square Enix has shared another look at Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, introducing five traveling companions and detailing equipment crafting, party progression, and new battle formations. The RPG launches February 16, 2027, on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Meet Five Traveling Companions

The latest character introductions include the Minstrel, a playful wandering bard, and Tatyana, a mysterious girl who gives a different name each time you meet her.

Three other companions have ties to Pidona. Nora runs the town’s smithing workshop, while Muse lives in the old quarter, keeping her identity as the surviving daughter of House Claudius a secret. Charl, a former Imperial Guard captain, serves as her personal guard.

Build Renown and Restore the Pidona Workshop

Completing quests and objectives raises your Renown rank, granting perks such as additional ability slots and expanded United Attacks.

Equipment progression centers on the Pidona Workshop, where you can forge and reforge gear. Tracking down its scattered smiths expands your crafting options.

Exploration also includes searching for Mr. S, a familiar face from the SaGa series. Finding his hiding spots earns stickers that grant bonuses, including faster forging.

New Formations and Elemental Ley Lines

Destinies United introduces formations making their first appearance in the SaGa franchise, including Triple Incisors and Rampaging Mammoth.

Battlefield Ley Lines add another tactical consideration. These elemental attunements strengthen spells from the matching school, while techs and spells from an opposing school can temporarily shift the field’s alignment.

Deluxe Edition Includes Early Access

The Digital Deluxe Version includes additional costumes, equipment, formations, and other extras. Purchasing it before launch also grants up to 72 hours of early access. Pre-orders and qualifying early purchases include a Bonus Accessories Set.

Square Enix also announced that Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven has sold over one million units since its 2024 release. According to the publisher, it is the first entry to reach that milestone since SaGa Frontier. Artist Yoshiro Ambe provided new artwork to mark the occasion.
