Tenjutsu is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 alongside PC in 2027. Deepnight Games and Devolver Digital announced the additional platform during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase, sharing a new gameplay trailer for the action roguelike from Dead Cells designer Sébastien Benard.
Take Down Three Syndicates in Kuroboro City
Tenjutsu follows Ten, a former yakuza returning home after a prison sentence. She wants to rebuild her life, but Kuroboro City’s crime bosses see her release as a threat and send their syndicates after her.
Combat pits Ten against groups of enemies using martial arts, ranged attacks, and special weapons. The order in which you confront the three syndicates matters: each victory strengthens the remaining factions, making the last opponent the most dangerous.
Reshape the City Between Fights
Kuroboro is a randomized city that players can alter to suit their needs. Items called Jokers let you change shop stock and prices, build useful vending machines, or heal up to keep a run going.
Defeated enemies also drop “tattooed teeth,” which can be exchanged for permanent advantages between runs. These include expanded city options, changes to the game’s rules, and access to advanced weapons.
Return Home Between Runs
Ten’s apartment and Nanny Hoken’s ramen shop downstairs serve as the setting for the story between runs. Visitors—including enemies—will stop by as events reveal more about Ten and life in Kuroboro.
