Wyldheart has released its first public Steam demo, offering several hours of tabletop-inspired RPG adventuring alone or with up to three friends. Developer Wayfinder Studios and publisher Curve Games announced the demo during the Triple-i Initiative, ahead of its participation in October’s Steam Next Fest.
The demo introduces the fallen kingdom of Caerwyn, with character creation, four dungeons, village conversations, and a classless combat system.
Create Your Hero and Enter The Slurper’s Den
You can build your character from four ancestries—Freefolk, Mossling, Grimhorn, and Stonefolk—alongside 19 story backgrounds and hundreds of customization options.
Your adventure includes The Slurper’s Den, a new mushroom-themed dungeon populated by grinning fungal enemies. Bioluminescence lights its dark caverns, while neon-green fire gives your party something else to dodge.
Beyond the dungeon lies the Whisperwoods region, which contains three additional dungeons and the village of Rivermere. Villagers have gossip to share, while the roads feature random encounters, ambushes, and other travelers.
Classless Combat Combines Weapons and Magic
Wyldheart lets you combine skill trees instead of committing to a fixed class. You can pair melee or ranged weapons with the Oldways of Magic, choosing from four magical paths: Blight, Pyre, Rime, and Storm.
The story also skips the chosen-one role. Your party begins as a relatively unknown group, with its future shaped by how you play and develop your characters.
A Tabletop-Inspired RPG From Former DICE and Embark Developers
Wayfinder Studios is a small team led by co-founders Dennis Brännvall, Fia Brännvall, and Manne Ederyd, whose backgrounds include creative, studio, and technical leadership at DICE and Embark.
The team aims to bring the feel of cozy tabletop sessions to a larger fantasy RPG.
You can play the free Wyldheart demo on Steam now.
