Blizzard Introduces StarCraft II: Starter Edition

Following it’s older sibling, World of Warcraft, Blizzard has announced that StarCraft II has received it’s own starter edition. The starter edition takes away the time limit put on the demos and lets players access a portion of the content for free, so long as you have a Battle.net account and a persistent internet connection. According to Blizzard, this includes:

  • The first four missions of the StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty single-player campaign, including Mar Sara 1-3 and the choice to embark on Tychus’s first mission or Dr. Hansen’s first mission.
  • The first two Challenges: Tactical Command and Covert Ops.
  • Access to the terran race in Custom Games and Single-Player vs. AI.
  • Access to the following custom maps (map selection may rotate over time):
    1. Xel’Naga Caverns
    2. Shattered Temple
    3. Discord IV
    4. High Orbit
  • If you are one of the few yet to try StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and decide to buy it at a later point, know that all your campaign progress and achievements will be saved and carried over to the full version. You can find the download page here.

So, there’s like only 3 of you left, right?
