E3 2012: Square Enix Unveils Next-Gen Engine

Despite the lack of next-gen hardware at E3 2012 (other than Nintendo of course), Square Enix pulled the cover off their new game engine, Luminous Studio, which will power their own next-gen games.

Square Enix presented Luminous Studio by debuting a tech demo, titled “Agni’s Philosophy”. The impressive four minute video showcases some of what fans can expect from the future of Square Enix.

The Luminous Studio game engine can depict high quality real-time graphics at the same level of pre-rendered cut-scenes, according to a news release.

Although Agni’s Philosophy is not a new game announcement, Square says the video was created under the same lens, or direction of the Final Fantasy series.
