Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD Coming to Wii U Fall 2013

During the Nintendo Direct broadcast this morning Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata announced that an HD remake of Wind Waker is coming to Wii U this fall.

Wind Waker originally launched in 2003 in North America on the GameCube and was the first Zelda game to feature a more cartoonish style using cell shaded visuals.

The Wii U HD version will come with reworked visuals, Gamepad controls, Miiverse support and other features which “tune up the overall game experience.”

From the look of the one screenshot they showed the game won’t be just retouched textures and environments but entirely new assets.

This opens up speculation to more HD remakes of GameCube games coming to the Wii U. I’d love to see an HD Super Mario Sunshine, which games would you like to see redesigned to take advantage of the Wii U’s hardware?
