In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, watch this first:
Presenting the ultimate Rock Band stage
The reason they built this was to look like the players are actually performing. While what you see in the video is a great step in that direction, you can still tell that they are playing a game, since the screens are kinda obvious.
I would take that concept one step further by somehow putting the screens inside special sunglasses, where they would “talk” wirelessly to the console. Not only would it make the players look cool, it would further hide the fact that you’re just watching people play a video game. In addition, the copy of Rock Band used with this stage would be custom made to work with this system.
Furthermore, if an audience member wanted to try the screenglasses on, the screen would loop a demo reel of the instrument it was connected to, so the audience member would get an idea of what they would be seeing if they decided to play.
Each set of screenglasses would somehow be wired to show one instrument per pair, so every player would only see what they were supposed to play and no one else’s part.
How bout it? Could such a Rock Band stage be built? Are “screenglasses” feasible? Would you want to play?
Happy gaming,
