Getting to know me…

In case you ever wanted to know more about me, here’s all you wanted to know, and more.

While I will usually give my real name only to those that I trust (MonsterVine staff file under this), I usually ask to be called by my screenname (SparklingBlue over here) while online to protect myself. You can never be too careful, I always say.

I grew up with Mario, Link, and the NES, which eventually gave way to all three generations of the Game Boy and an N64. Then, my dad won a PlayStation in a contest, where I was introduced to Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. A PS2 was received Christmas 2004 (or 2005, I forget), and in August of this year, I welcomed a Nintendo DS to my family of consoles. In short, I have respect for Sony; but am a Nintendo girl at heart. But what makes gaming special to me is because it allows me to do things I wouldn’t be able to do in real life, thanks to paralysis in my legs. For instance, I may not be able to drive in real life, but playing Gran Turismo and other racers gives me some idea of how to drive. (I am dangerous with Peach in Mario Kart, btw.) I may not be able to play DDR properly, but the sim StepMania allows me to “dance” with my fingers.

Another way I connect with the games I love is through writing, especially fanfiction. The serials you’re following are just a few examples of some of my own what-if tales of the Pokemon world (and soon, the Zelda world). If you want to see more of what I’ve made the Pokemon cast do (and a re-imagining of the original Final Fantasy), my fics are up on most any major Pokemon board (eg. Serebii.net, Bulbagarden, etc.) or Fanfiction.net. For the most part, response has been mostly positive, but I have my share of critics.

I also run my own YouTube channel where I film video walkthroughs of classic games–like the fanfiction, response is fairly postive with a dash of critics. My de facto “mascot”, Lita the Pikachu, is from a file on Pokemon Leaf Green I am filming.

Both the fanfiction and the YouTube channel have allowed me to meet people from all around the world, and both have been through ups and downs, and I hope my time at MonsterVine will be the same way.

If you want to contact me, I’m on YIM as icysapphire64–all I ask is that you introduce yourself by your MonsterVine name so I don’t block you. (I block names I do not know)

See you around the site, and happy gaming,
SparklingBlue (and Lita) o^-^o
