SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy Seals is a little over a month away from its April 19 release, so Sony and Zipper Interactive are releasing new information about the upcoming beta and new game mode to get fans excited. There will be four separate phases for the multiplayer beta. A private beta will go live on March 15, with only eligible players getting an invite. On March 22, PlayStation Plus members will get access to the beta. Players who picked up Killzone 3 with a SOCOM 4 beta code, will get access on March 29, and finally, the beta will release for everyone on the PSN to download on April 5. The beta will run until April 13.
Bomb Squad is the fourth game mode that is featured in SOCOM 4’s multiplayer. The Spec Ops team must defuse a bomb planted by the opposite team before the timer runs out. The catch is, only one player can play as the Bomb Technician character, who is tasked with defusing the bomb. The Bomb Technician is equipped an automatic shotgun and a mobile grenade launcher and is very heavily armored, however this will make whoever is playing this character, the biggest target.
The beta will include all of the game modes in multiplayer, as well as two playable maps.
