TGA: Persona 5’s Joker Steals the Show as the First Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighter

At tonight’s Game Awards it was announced that Joker, the main protagonist of last year’s JRPG masterpiece Persona 5, will be the first DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Few people saw this coming, as the Persona series has never had a mainline entry on a Nintendo console, with the first Persona releasing for the PS1, and future entries releasing for subsequent Playstation consoles.

Though the trailer doesn’t contain any gameplay footage, it does feature some great banter between the Phantom Thieves and a few silhouettes of Smash fighters animated in the incredibly flashy Persona 5 style.

There’s no confirmed date for Joker’s arrival in Smash Bros Ultimate, but when he arrives, he’ll be bringing an assortment of Persona songs and a Persona-themed stage with him. For more information, check out the trailer below.
