Casebook 1899 – The Leipzig Murders Is a Retro Detective Adventure Set in Turn-of-the-Century Germany

Solo developer Gregor Müller and Homo Narrans Studio have unveiled Casebook 1899 – The Leipzig Murders, a historical point-and-click detective game launching on Steam and GOG in 2025.

Set in turn-of-the-century Leipzig, Germany, Casebook 1899 puts players in the shoes of Detective Joseph Kreiser as he works to unravel a series of interconnected murder cases in a city at the height of industrial expansion—and on the edge of chaos.

A Pixelated Mystery Rooted in History

Inspired by classic point-and-click adventures, Casebook 1899 features hand-pixelated visuals and deep narrative immersion, brought to life by Müller’s years of historical research and solo development. Players will search richly detailed environments, interrogate suspects, and solve layered murder mysteries using a combination of clue gathering, notebook tracking, and a deduction board.

Key Features:

  • A City on the Brink: Explore four complex cases set in a meticulously researched version of 1899 Leipzig, filled with political unrest, industrialization, and shadowy secrets.
  • Interactive Deduction: Use your notebook to track leads and your deduction board to connect clues and reach conclusions.
  • Every Choice Matters: Each case can be solved in multiple ways, with your interpretation of the evidence directly impacting who gets accused—and what comes next.
  • Dialogue & Interrogation: Choose your words carefully as you interrogate witnesses and suspects, trying to tease out lies and half-truths.

“This release marks the culmination of four years of late nights and passionate work,” Müller said. “As my first commercial title, Casebook 1899 is both a labor of love and a tribute to the forgotten corners of European history.”

Casebook 1899 – The Leipzig Murders will launch in 2025 for PC via Steam and GOG. You can follow updates via the official Bluesky or sign up for the newsletter on the game’s official website.
