Capcom Reveals Onimusha 2 Remaster, Free “Hell Mode” Update for Warlords Out Now

Capcom is officially reviving the Onimusha franchise with a new remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, set to launch May 23 for PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC, alongside a free “Hell Mode” update for Onimusha: Warlords.

The announcement came with a new trailer highlighting both of the original titles, showcasing their dark, demon-slaying stories reimagined in high definition. Players can look forward to modernized controls, improved visuals, and new features aimed at preserving the legacy of Capcom’s iconic samurai action series for modern platforms.

The Return of Jubei Yagyu

First released in 2002, Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny centers on Jubei Yagyu, a lone warrior on a mission to stop Nobunaga Oda’s demonic uprising. With deeper gameplay systems, branching story paths, and multiple recruitable allies, Samurai’s Destiny quickly became a fan favorite and remains the series’ best-selling entry.

This remaster brings updated visuals and gameplay refinements, along with a bonus for longtime fans—players with save data from the Onimusha: Warlords remaster can unlock a special outfit for Jubei inspired by Samanosuke Akechi.

Hell Mode Arrives for Warlords

Starting April 23, Onimusha: Warlords will receive a free “Hell Mode” update—an ultra-hard difficulty for experienced players looking for a real challenge. This mode will also be included in the upcoming Samurai’s Destiny remaster.

The update adds new supported languages (including Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Polish, Russian, and Arabic) and other quality-of-life enhancements.

Coming May 23

Onimusha: Warlords and Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny will be available as a bundle when Samurai’s Destiny launches on May 23. Pre-orders are open now and include orchestral soundtrack content and helpful in-game items.
