FURYU Corporation has revealed Varlet, an all-new high school RPG that blends supernatural mystery, social dynamics, and psychological intrigue. The game is set to release August 28, 2025 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store, pending), PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
Set in the halls of Kousei Academy, Varlet explores the dark side of digital dependence through the school’s experimental VR network, Johari. While it’s meant to make life easier, offering everything from social networking to shopping, it’s also spawning a dangerous obsession with online validation. Rumors soon emerge of students disappearing into mysterious “Glitches” when their desire for attention grows too strong. Even worse, it’s said monsters are replacing them in the real world—and nobody notices.
A Battle Between Light and Dark
Players take on the role of a member of the Student Support Services (SSS), a guild dedicated to solving problems around campus. As monsters begin to infiltrate the student body, players will need to form close bonds, battle nightmarish threats, and navigate the emotional highs and lows of school life—all while uncovering the truth behind the Glitches.
At the heart of Varlet lies the Triad Stats system, a unique mechanic that tracks choices across six attributes split between Light Triad (morality, sympathy, altruism) and Dark Triad (Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism). These choices shape the protagonist’s personality, influence dialogue, and unlock passive battle skills, creating distinct paths: will you be a charismatic leader or a power-hungry manipulator?
But getting too close to too many people might lead to unexpected consequences, and not all relationships are what they seem.

Varlet launches August 28, 2025. Players can also take the “Triad Diagnosis” personality test ahead of the game’s release to discover where they land on the Light–Dark spectrum.
