FromSoftware breaks down the deadly world of Limveld and what it takes to survive in its standalone multiplayer co-op spinoff launching May 30.
FromSoftware has dropped a brand-new gameplay overview trailer for Elden Ring: Nightreign, giving players their most in-depth look yet at the systems powering its dark, ever-shifting world. Unlike the original game’s open-world epic, Nightreign is a standalone action survival experience focused on multiplayer co-op and high-stakes progression — and it’s looking brutal in the best way.
Launching May 30 for PC and consoles, Nightreign casts players as Nightfarers, survivors trapped in the fractured realm of Limveld, a world that reshapes itself with every run. Players will have to explore biomes that change dynamically, fend off hostile enemies, and upgrade their builds to stand a chance against the encroaching circle of fire that pushes the group ever forward — and ever closer to death.
Here’s what’s new in Nightreign:
- Dynamic Map: Each run brings new layouts, enemies, weapons, and environmental hazards across Limveld.
- Survival Meets Strategy: Players must choose when to fight, when to flee, and how to adapt as the clock and terrain shift.
- 3-Day Structure: Every run climaxes on the third night with a boss battle against a Nightlord — new horrors exclusive to Nightreign.
- Persistent Progression: Dying isn’t the end. Fallen players earn relics to customize and upgrade their builds for future runs.
- True Co-Op: Up to four players can band together, combining unique abilities and builds to survive the night.
An Evolving Vision of Elden Ring
Nightreign is a full standalone title that pulls the rich aesthetic and lore of Elden Ring into a new genre blend of roguelite survival and high-intensity co-op action. While the recent network test gave players a taste of the gameplay loop, today’s trailer reveals how much deeper Nightreign goes, with a focus on adaptability, teamwork, and constant risk-reward decision-making.
Elden Ring: Nightreign launches on May 30 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
