Magic Rain Studios and First Break Labs shared a charming new walkthrough video at PAX East 2025, giving players an extended look at their upcoming cozy platformer ILA: A Frosty Glide. The video highlights a few of the game’s magical core mechanics—like the skatebroom, witchy customization, and a small but vibrant snowy open world full of hidden secrets and gravity-defying puzzles.
Slated for release on Steam later this year, ILA: A Frosty Glide puts players in the warm winter boots of ILA, a young witch-in-training searching for her lost kitty Coco. Equal parts relaxing and adventurous, the game aims to blend satisfying exploration with enchanting aesthetics and responsive platforming.
Glide with Style on a Magical Skatebroom
The skatebroom—yes, a magical hybrid of a broom and a skateboard—is ILA’s main mode of traversal. Players can soar over snowy hills, weave through enchanted forests, and pull off precision glides to access secrets hidden across the game’s handcrafted world.
Mastering the skatebroom also means upgrading it. As players explore and collect valuable items, they’ll unlock enhanced movement abilities that allow ILA to fly faster and higher.
Cozy Customization for the Aspiring Witch
Customization plays a big role in ILA’s identity. Players can collect special coins and items throughout the world to style ILA with new hats, capes, and skatebrooms. As the journey continues, skatebroom upgrades will also add more flair and function to the character’s magical movement toolkit.

A World of Snow, Secrets, and Sound
The snowy island ILA explores is bursting with Scandinavian charm, secret nooks, and collectables that reward exploration with lore, upgrades, and visual storytelling. While not massive in scale, the world is designed to be open enough for players to explore at their own pace.
Backing it all is a warm, whimsical soundtrack by composer Joaquim Scandurra (Sku), which adapts dynamically to your progress and location—growing more intense as you near important milestones like the mountain’s summit.
A Game Built on Skateboarding and Magic
The story behind ILA: A Frosty Glide is as heartfelt as the game itself. Created by Ítalo and Yesenia, a duo who met through skateboarding, the project began as a comic and grew into a game after a game jam in December 2023. Their studio, Magic Rain Studios, is dedicated to making games that bring joy and emotional depth to players of all ages.
First Break Labs, a publishing collective made up of veterans from SEGA, ATLUS, Nintendo and more, is supporting the game’s release later this year.
