NantGames is pushing the boundaries of geolocation RPGs with the latest content drop for MythWalker, the mobile fantasy game that brings real-world locations to life. The headline addition is Tethering, a first-of-its-kind multiplayer feature that lets players explore the game world together, even if they’re on opposite sides of the planet.
With this update, up to three players can party up online and explore a shared version of one player’s real-world environment, completing quests and fighting enemies together in real time. Yes, that means your crew in LA and Seoul can jump into your streets in Paris to take down a boss, scoop some loot, and call it a day.
Tethering Connects Friends Globally
The Tethering feature functions like remote world-sharing, with one player acting as the host while two others join as “tethered” party members. The team can roam together in the host’s local map, fight monsters, complete quests, and earn bonus rewards for adventuring in a group. It’s an elegant workaround to the traditional limitations of geolocation games—perfect for socially connected gamers in different regions.
According to NantGames Creative Director Jesse Snyder, this is just the beginning:
“Tethering is going to be a real game changer… We plan on developing more awesome experiences for the future.”
Enter the Wyldevae: Mythical Fairies with a Dark Side
Also joining the game are the Wyldevae, an enchanting but deadly new enemy faction. These magical fairy creatures may look delicate, but they’re tricksters at heart. Each Wyldevae variant is biome-specific and offers unique drops and challenges:
- Bergavae – Found in mountainous regions, moth-like and mysterious.
- Strandavae – Dwell on islands, aquatic and agile.
- Fennavae – Haunt swamps, with dragonfly-esque wings and mischief to spare.
Players will uncover new quests tied to the Wyldevae that further explore their origins and their role in the lore-rich world of Mytherra.
More Content, More Lore, More MythWalker
This update builds on April’s expansion, which added over 20 new quests, an appearance at Stonehenge, and introduced new characters like a hobgoblin ally. Combined with this week’s launch, MythWalker is fast becoming one of the most ambitious geolocation RPGs on mobile.
MythWalker is available now on iOS and Android.
