The beloved 2002 point-and-click adventure Syberia is being brought back to life. Microids has officially announced Syberia Remastered, a modernized version of Benoît Sokal’s iconic story-driven journey, launching in late 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC—alongside a brand-new VR experience on Meta Quest 3.
This announcement follows the successful remake of L’Amerzone and signals a continued revival of Sokal’s unforgettable narrative worlds.
A Classic Reimagined for Modern Platforms
Developed by Virtuallyz Gaming and Microids Studio Paris, Syberia Remastered aims to stay faithful to the original game’s emotional and artistic depth while updating it with a complete graphical overhaul. Character models, animations, and environments are being rebuilt using modern hardware capabilities, ensuring longtime fans and new players alike can appreciate Kate Walker’s melancholic trek through a visually revitalized Europe.
Kate’s story—tracking down automaton craftsman Hans Voralberg—remains the heart of the journey. Expect the same memorable characters, surreal landscapes, and existential themes that made Syberia a cult classic in the early 2000s.
Syberia Is Also Heading to VR
In a surprise addition, Microids also announced Syberia VR, a fully immersive reimagining of the game specifically built for Meta Quest 3. This isn’t a passive port—Syberia VR is being designed as its own experience, offering new ways to explore the world of Benoît Sokal through first-person immersion and interactive narrative twists. More details on the VR edition will be shared in the coming months.
“Syberia is much more than a game – it’s an initiatory journey, an unforgettable sensory and emotional experience,” said Microids founder Elliot Grassiano. “With this remaster, we want a new generation to rediscover this adventure, while offering historical fans a sublimated version respectful of Benoît Sokal’s legacy.”
Coming Late 2025 to Consoles, PC, and Meta Quest 3
Syberia Remastered is set to launch simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, with the Meta Quest 3 VR edition arriving day-and-date. You can wishlist the game now on Steam and the PlayStation Store.
