The tactical wargame revival, Warside, is expanding its battlefield in a big way, starting this week.
Developer LAVABIRD and publisher First Break Labs have revealed the official roadmap for Warside, the turn-based tactics battler that wears its old-school war game inspirations on its sleeve. The roadmap outlines a series of upcoming updates that will eventually lead to the highly anticipated co-op campaign in Version 2.0.
The first update, V1.1, drops at the end of this week, introducing skirmish missions, custom player maps, a commander dossier, and several localization bug fixes.
Future updates include:
- V1.2 – Map rating system, “Brutal” campaign rebalancing, and AI improvements
- V1.3 – Steam achievements, multiplayer fog of war, custom map server, and UI polish
- V2.0 – Co-op campaign and brand-new single-player story content
Updates are expected to roll out every two weeks, meaning the wait for major new features won’t be long.
Set in a world of deserts, forests, frozen battlefields, and toxic wastelands, Warside tasks players with commanding a powerful force of over 30 unit types across land, air, and sea. Choose from 14 unique Commanders, each with distinct passive skills and Battle Powers that can turn the tide of war.
Whether you’re fighting through a massive 30+ mission single-player campaign, going head-to-head in online PvP, or preparing to conquer the co-op campaign with a friend, Warside offers strategy veterans and newcomers plenty to sink their teeth into. For players who like to get creative, the built-in mission editor lets you craft your own tactical scenarios for solo or multiplayer skirmishes.
Warside is available now on Steam, with console versions headed to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox later this year.
