The long-anticipated co-op survival adventure Crosswind has officially launched its first public alpha playtest on Steam, developer Crosswind Crew announced today. With over 350,000 wishlists since its March reveal, Crosswind is already making waves—and now players can finally step aboard and see what the high-seas hype is about.
A Pirate Sandbox With a Souls-Lite Twist
This alternate-universe Age of Piracy game isn’t your typical survival sandbox. Blending classic resource gathering and base building with intense souls-lite boss fights and massive sea skirmishes, Crosswind offers a dynamic, danger-filled world that’s playable solo or with up to three friends in online co-op. The alpha playtest, which is now live on Steam, is expected to run for several weeks, and it offers a beefy 30+ hours of content.
Key Alpha Features
- Three Biomes to Explore – Each biome offers unique enemies, materials, and explorable dungeon zones.
- Three Bosses to Defeat – Souls-lite style bosses that scale in difficulty and require careful combat planning.
- Three Ships to Command – Including a bonus plunderable NPC merchant vessel.
- Multi-Faceted Combat – Engage in land skirmishes, ship-to-ship combat, and real-time boarding fights.
- Online Co-op – Play solo or team up with up to two others to survive the seas together.
Get Involved
Players can request access to the alpha via the Steam Playtest system and wishlist Crosswind to stay updated. Even if you miss this round, the Crosswind Crew has plans for additional tests in the future.
