It’s official: Springtrap has entered The Entity’s Realm. Behaviour Interactive has released Dead by Daylight: Five Nights at Freddy’s, a crossover chapter that fans have been screaming for since the game first dropped nearly a decade ago. With it comes Springtrap as a playable Killer, a brand-new map inspired by Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, and enough jump scares to keep even longtime survivors on edge.
This marks the 40th Killer to join Dead by Daylight’s horror hall of fame, and Springtrap is no ordinary slasher. Adapted from his sit-and-survive roots in FNAF, he brings a unique bag of tricks designed to reimagine that creeping tension for DBD’s high-mobility gameplay loop.
The Animatronic Arrives
Springtrap’s arrival isn’t just a novelty—it’s a mechanical nightmare. His ability to control doors and cameras adds a new strategic layer to Trials. At the start of each match, seven Security Doors spawn with surveillance cameras above them. Survivors can peek through the cameras to gain an edge, while both sides can use the doors for rapid traversal. For DBD veterans, it’s a new twist on map awareness. For FNAF fans, it’s pure fan service.
“The tension in Five Nights at Freddy’s comes from watching and waiting,” says Jay Guzzo, Springtrap’s Killer Designer. “We wanted to channel that into a fast-paced, dynamic experience—and it worked.”
Killer Perks and Fazbear Flashbacks
Springtrap’s power is backed by three terrifying new Perks:
- Help Wanted: Damaged Generators become “Compromised.” If repaired, your Basic Attacks cool down faster for a short time.
- Phantom Fear: Survivors in your Terror Radius who look at you scream and reveal their Aura briefly.
- Haywire: Exit Gates regress over time with flickering lights to disorient escaping players.
The new Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza map pulls visual cues from the original FNAF game, complete with dark corners, vent shafts, and nostalgic details like the infamous kitchen. It’s tailor-made for cat-and-mouse tension.
For players who want to go all-in on animatronic dread, the Five Nights at Freddy’s Collection includes several cosmetics, most notably the Legendary Yellow Rabbit Outfit, voiced by Matthew Lillard, straight from the FNAF movie.
