Fatal Run 2089 Speeds Toward Fall Launch With New Gameplay Trailer

Atari and developer MNSTR Studio have announced that Fatal Run 2089, a wild reimagining of the cult classic Fatal Run, will speed onto modern platforms this fall. The arcade-inspired racing combat game is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

To coincide with the announcement, the team dropped an official gameplay trailer showcasing high-speed chaos, branching tracks, and plenty of vehicular carnage.

Set in a neon-lit post-apocalyptic wasteland, Fatal Run 2089 blends classic arcade racing with modern visuals and twitch-speed chaos. Players drift through deadly turns, dodge collapsing debris, and launch missiles at enemies while barreling toward the finish line. The game features:

  • 20 action-packed levels with multiple paths and secrets
  • Combat racing with customizable vehicles
  • Explosive set pieces and environmental hazards
  • Single-player and competitive multiplayer modes

The new gameplay footage highlights Fatal Run 2089’s high-speed thrills, combining precision drifting with weaponized racing to create a chaotic blend of OutRun and Twisted Metal.

Fatal Run 2089 marks Atari’s latest retro revival, breathing new life into one of their more obscure entries with a complete overhaul built for modern platforms. A specific release date has yet to be announced, but fans can expect to hit the road sometime this fall.
