KONAMI’s PRESS START event this morning included details about both Suikoden I & II Remastered as well as Suikoden Star Leap. Remastered is making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2 as well as Suikoden Star Leap making its way to PC via Steam.
The Suikoden section of the presentation felt like a missed opportunity. They don’t mention anything about the Switch 2 release, what makes it different from the Switch 1 release, and whether or not there’s an upgrade path.
Sadly, there’s no upgrade path, at least not yet. More importantly, it’s out today and has its own separate SKU on the Nintendo eshop. The Switch 2 release should keep it inline with other consoles, which is a strange thing to say about an upscaled PlayStation 1 game.
I guess if you haven’t played it yet and are looking forward to playing it on a handheld, this is probably the best way to do it. The remasters released to critical acclaim in March and we gave it a 4/5 in our review.
Suikoden Star Leap – What is it?
We have a good deal of information already about Suikoden Star Leap but the one thing people keep hammering on is that it’s a mobile title with gacha elements. However, as KONAMI comes around to the idea that their specific audience isn’t necessarily looking for that particular type of gaming, they’ve announced that Suikoden Star Leap is coming to PC via Steam.
The Rune of Change is one of the 27 True Runes that are said to have created the world. The story begins just east to the giant Scarlet Moon Empire, at a village located on the shore of a lake.
One night, our hero, the village chief Hou’s son, comes back home successful from his first hunt. The village is filled with celebration and brimming with hop efor the coming days, but an assault is launched, and the fate of the village is changed in an instant.
Our hero, along with Hisui, Shirin, and Shapur, embarks on a journey to restore peace to the village. In the midst of the great whirlpool of destiny, the Hero’s small adventure turns into a large ambition,

A Steam page for Suikoden Star Leap has already appeared and is available for wishlist. More information will be revealed during Suikoden Live, which is going to be a regular event I guess? The last Suikoden Live was in May where they announced Suikoden Star Leap. For more information, we’ll have to wait until Suikoden Live #3 is announced.
Suikoden HD Remastered Gate Rune & Dunan Unification Wars for Switch 2 and all consoles including PC via Steam is available now. Suikoden Star Leap has no release date as of yet but does have a Steam page where you can wishlist the game.
