Square Enix has announced The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a new single-player action RPG developed by Team Asano, best known for Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default. A free “Debut Demo” is now available exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2, letting players experience an early taste of the game ahead of its full release in 2026.
Set in the world of Philabieldia, The Adventures of Elliot follows a young hero named Elliot and his fairy companion Faie as they explore savage lands, ancient ruins, and time-warping mysteries. Humanity’s last safe zone—the Kingdom of Huther—is under threat after ruins are discovered just outside its walls, setting off an epic quest through space and time.
The game blends real-time combat with deep exploration and weapon customization. Players can wield seven weapon types—including swords, chains, and sickles—and use magicite to personalize their combat loadouts. Meanwhile, Faie supports with “Fairy Actions” that aid in combat, traversal, and puzzle-solving.
While the “Debut Demo” gives players an early hands-on, save data from the demo won’t carry over to the final game. However, Square Enix is collecting feedback via an online survey open through September 30, 2025.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales launches in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates as Team Asano enters new territory with its first full-scale action RPG.
