Democracy’s frontline is about to get a lot bigger. Helldivers 2, the explosive co-op third-person shooter from Arrowhead Game Studios, is officially headed to Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025. Previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and PC, the announcement marks a major expansion for the cult-favorite shooter that has players across the galaxy “spreading peace” in the most destructive ways possible.
A new trailer and announcement post on Xbox Wire confirmed the news, including support for cross-play across all platforms, so whether you’re gaming on green or blue, your squadmates are only a Stratagem away.

In Helldivers 2, you and up to three other players step into the boots of elite peacekeepers tasked with defending Super Earth by annihilating its alien enemies. The game features a chaotic blend of team-based tactics, massive firepower, and friendly fire that’s always on, creating a blend of hilarity and heroism that’s quickly become Arrowhead’s signature style.
You’ll bring the pain using customizable weapons and devastating Stratagems—air-dropped tools of war like sentry turrets, orbital strikes, or anti-tank weapons. With bugs, bots, and whatever else crawls out of the darkness constantly swarming your team, Helldivers 2 demands tight teamwork and a steady trigger finger.
Join the Galactic War
Beyond the firefights, Helldivers 2 features a persistent, player-driven meta-game called the Galactic War. Every operation you complete contributes to the broader battle across the stars. Whether liberating planets from Terminid infestation, battling deadly Automatons, or braving the mind-controlled forces of the Illuminate, every mission has weight.

Helldivers 2 is currently available on PS5 and PC, and will land on Xbox Series X|S on August 26.
