Swapmeat Playtest Kicks Off July 17 – Join Meat Lab 6 and Swap Alien Body Parts for Power

Independent developer One More Game has announced that its sixth public playtest for Swapmeat, the co-op roguelite shooter where body parts are loot, will run from July 17 at 10 AM PT through July 23 at 5 PM PT. Fans and first-time Meat Scientists alike can sign up at the official site, and players who refer three friends will receive guaranteed access for their full squad (while spots last).

A brand-new trailer shows off the meaty madness of Meat Lab 6, including updated bosses, new crafting mechanics, and the kind of delightful grossness you’d expect from a game where exploding alien torsos are loot.

The Meat Just Got Smarter

Swapmeat is a third-person co-op roguelite where players rip alien body parts off the battlefield and graft them onto their character in real-time. By swapping torsos, heads, and limbs, you gain new weapons and abilities in a weird science buffet of mutant customization.

Meat Lab 6 introduces a range of overhauled features, including:

  • Revamped tutorial & prologue for a smoother first-time experience
  • Elemental Condition system: Ice chills, fire burns, slime slimes—you get the idea
  • 15 new build-defining Mutations that affect item pools and status effects
  • Boss reworks, including Franken Beans and the newly named “Monday Night Midterms”
  • New passive gear type – Flair, with unlockable perks
  • Massive HUD and UX overhaul, plus improved crafting menus and compass

If you’ve ever wanted a meat-grinding roguelite that lets you throw slime-charged legs onto a jetpack torso while battling a sentient test midterm, Swapmeat has you covered.

Watch the Devs Serve It Live

A live developer stream showcasing all the juicy new content kicks off Friday, July 18, at 4 PM PT on the One More Game Twitch channel, giving fans a guided tour through Meat Lab 6 and all of its carnivorous chaos.

Swapmeat is currently in development for PC, macOS, and Linux via Steam, with a full release planned for 2025. Players can wishlist the game now and follow along on Discord for patch notes, community builds, and developer Q&A.

About Swapmeat

In Swapmeat, you are a certified Meat Scientist working for Rangus Meats, a shady interstellar meat conglomerate. Armed with experimental Smart Meat tech, you’re tasked with harvesting “DNA samples” (read: organs) from bizarre alien worlds and weaponizing your spoils in real-time. The game features drop-in co-op for up to four players, a constantly mutating arsenal of meat-powers, and enough roguelite chaos to keep you stewing between missions.
