Double Dragon Gaiden Adds Evil Marian and Super Anubis in Free DLC

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons just got even bigger. Maximum Entertainment and developer Secret Base have released a free DLC pack today, adding two new playable characters—Evil Marian and Super Anubis—to the roster on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

This marks the second character pack for the beat ’em up this year, following April’s addition of Jeff and Abore. To celebrate, the game is 65% off on Steam and Nintendo Switch for a limited time.

Meet the New Characters

  • Evil Marian – Once an ally, Marian has fallen under the control of an unknown malevolent force. Floating above the battlefield, she wields psychic blasts and telekinetic attacks with an unsettling, emotionless presence.
  • Super Anubis – Rumored to be a fraud for years, Super Anubis now radiates with power—levitating, glowing, and summoning dark forces that defy explanation. Whether he’s a true prophet or a dangerous con artist remains uncertain.

Classic Brawling with a Modern Twist

Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons revives the side-scrolling action of the original series while introducing modern mechanics like tag-team play, letting players switch between two characters mid-fight. Billy and Jimmy Lee return alongside an expanding roster of unique fighters, each with their own special moves, combos, and upgrade paths.

Players can tackle the criminal underworld solo or team up in local co-op, battling across the streets of New York in dynamic, branching missions.
