Tripwire Presents and developer Arctic Hazard unveiled the first gameplay trailer for Norse: Oath of Blood during FGS Live from Gamescom 2025. The turn-based tactical Viking saga is set to launch in 2025 for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is available now for wishlisting on PC storefronts.
The trailer provides the most in-depth look yet at Gunnar’s bloody quest for vengeance. After the treacherous Steinarr Far-Spear murders his father, Jarl Gripr, and seizes power, Gunnar must rise from tragedy to rebuild his clan, forge alliances, and reclaim his family’s honor through blood and steel.
A Viking Village and a Warband to Command
Norse: Oath of Blood combines tactical turn-based combat with settlement management, challenging players to make hard choices that shape Gunnar’s journey. From the village’s blacksmith to the warriors who join the fight, every resource and ally matters. Players can fully customize their warband with weapons, armor, and abilities, preparing them for brutal clashes across Norway’s unforgiving landscapes.
Music That Echoes the Gods
Tripwire also revealed that the game’s soundtrack will feature original music from Galdorcræft, a dark neo-folk band that blends ancient and modern instruments, including lyres, jaw harps, horns, and skin drums. Their ritualistic soundscape, combined with Gaz Bailey’s score, sets the tone for a haunting Viking saga. Fans can already listen to the first track, Stígr, on YouTube.
Story Written in Blood
The narrative is penned by Sunday Times bestselling author Giles Kristian, weaving a historically grounded Viking world with dark pagan undertones. As players guide Gunnar, they will face rival clans, forge alliances, and endure the consequences of their decisions. Every victory, betrayal, and sacrifice will shape his legacy.
